The Essence
of Wildrun

Who we are

Be it on the Wild Coast of South Africa, the remote mountains of Lesotho, the geologically & botanically rich Richtersveld desert or the bushveld of Mapungubwe, each Wildrun® is unique and will be sure to leave an indelible impression on your life.

No markers.  No massive crowds. Just you, your sense of adventure and a truly wild place. Be prepared to experience a run like no other.

The Story of
Wildrun(ner)

What we're about

Three or more days of wilderness trail running through some of the most rugged and beautiful scenery in Southern Africa. This is the backbone of a Wildrun®.

The Wildrun® is organised by Wildrunner, premier trail running event organisers in South Africa. We focus on pure trail running with a heartbeat born from a lifetime's passion of exploring wild places on the run.

Wildrunner was established in November 2007 and has held over 200 trail running events in seven South African provinces, as well as Internationally in Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.

With this comes a wealth of trail and mountain running event management experience that is unmatched in Africa.

What people are saying

"It is an experience of a life time. So well organised and you meet people from all over the world and you get to see apart of the world that not everyone gets to see and appreciate. You leave there feeling part of a second family."

Diana Tanner
The Namibia Crossing 2016

'I just wanted to tell you how super impressed Andrew and I were with you all and the whole organisation and efforts that you put into this event.  You are very special people and you organised a very special event and did so in the most charming and delightful way! You clearly have the knack of getting a great team together! We still cannot believe the venue and surroundings that you took us to and I so grateful that people like you make the effort to organise such events! It was the trip that exceeded all of our expectations by a million miles (or kilometres) and despite previous great holidays and trips - Andrew and I feel that this one outshone them all.'

"Many thanks to you and the team for a truly wonderful experience. My soul could not get enough of the horizon to horizon beauty of the Wild Coast... at the necessary cost of a hammering to my feet!"

Mark Stone

Just a quick thanks for an amazing experience and awesome race. Exceptionally well organised and a privilege to be a part of. Well done!

I wanted to write a note to thank each person of the team for an absolutely incredible four days on the Wild Coast. I looked forward to the Wildrun for months but nothing could’ve prepared me for how awesome it actually was. It was without question the best sporting ‘holiday’ I’ve ever had; I was lucky to be with great friends but everything you did completed the experience. I hope to be back.

As with all Wildrunner’s events, the organisation is slick and everything happens like clockwork – and achieving that in remote regions is often harder than running the routes themselves! Huge thumbs up to Owen, Tam and the rest of the Wildrunner team for this great Lesotho gem of an event.

Lesotho Wildrun® 2013

Wildrun Africa’s Rwanda 2019 inaugural trip was an absolute treat – from start to finish. Owen, Chris and their team of four local Rwandan youngsters Jado, Olivier, Emanuel and Danny laid on a completely unique trail-running experience. The Rwanda Wildrun was a bucket-lister of note that exceeded all my expectations. Rwanda has a very tangible soul – she is powerful, positive, hopeful. As a country, she has drawn me in hook, line and sinker and I have fallen quite hopelessly in love.

"Absolutely loved it and have recommended it to many people already. Although Initially I felt it was quite expensive for a running race, by the time I left, I felt it was worth every cent - saw the logistics involved. Also loved the people I met and the race crew were awesome."
